Ingredients

  • 1 oz fresh yeast
  • 1 ½ cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 ½ oz sugar
  • 1 pinch cinnamon
  • 1 half cup Rum
  • 1 lb all-purpose flour
  • 2 oz sultanas
  • 1 oz pine nuts
  • 2 cups oil

Preparation

50 minutes preparation + 5 minutes cooking

Dissolve the yeast in warm milk, and whisk with eggs, sugar, cinnamon, lemon, rum, flour and milk in sufficient quantity to obtain a batter as liquid as cream. Then beat this well for 30 minutes. Add the pine nuts and raisins and leave to rest for 10 minutes. Fry in hot but not boiling oil, in spoonfuls, stirring often. A Christmas and Carnival sweet.
