Join us June 5 – June 7 for Barilla’s third annual Italian cooking weekend at the New York Wine & Culinary Center.  All proceeds from the Italian cooking weekend will benefit FoodLink, a provider for food banks in the NY area.  It is sure to be a culinary filled weekend and all participants will receive a gift bag filled with Barilla products. 

Academia Barilla productsThe event will begin with a guided tour of the plant in Avon, NY, showing spectators the strict quality and quantity of pastas that the plant produces.  All interested participants will ride a bus from the acclaimed New York Wine & Culinary Center to the plant for the tour.  What one should bring and wear is listed below in the schedule.

Chef Lorenzo BoniThe New York Wine & Culinary Center is located at 800 South Main Street, Victory, NY, (585) 394-7070.  The estimated $7.5 million NYWCC is a not-for-profit organization that serves as an educational gateway to the agricultural, wine, and food riches of New York State. The 19,475 square-foot facility offers programs and events for the entire community as it includes many educational opportunities.  Lorenzo Boni, Italo Besseghini, and a host of chef instructors will show you how to make different types of pastas by Italian recipes according to time-tested tradition.  The complete schedule of classes, and exact location is listed below.

Barilla Corporate Chef Lorenzo Boni will be hosting a seminar on June 5th titled Dinner in Italy.   A native of Bologna, Italy, his dishes are influenced by the food culture of the Emilia-Romagna region.  The region is Italy's first producer of wheat, sugar-beet, and fruit; second producer of barley and soy beans.  It is also here that the world-famous Prosciutto di Parma, and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese are produced. 

Chef Italo Besseghini Chef Boni will be demonstrating dinner in the Theater room at NYWCC.  The evening will begin with a glass of Prosecco served with Crescentine, slices of Prosciutto di Parma & Giardiniera, Lasagna Bolognese, Cotoletta Bolognese, and mouthwatering desserts like Zuppa Inglese with Torta di Riso.  There will be wine from Italy and New York for sampling at each course.  After eating the meal, the guests will move to the Tasting room for more wine, and coffee.
Chef Italo Besseghini will prepare a tasting of Italian food specialties in the exhibit room. 

 

 

Participants will receive useful cooking tips, and Italian recipes, while sampling Academia Barilla gourmet specialties
In the hands-on kitchen room, chef instructors will be share their secrets and demonstrate tasty recipes.
