Abstract:

Once upon a time, a vagabond traveled from city to city preparing his own special soup made using a rock. His magic stone caused fearful and distrustful people to look at world in a new way. Everyone added an ingredient to the pot to create an extraordinary soup. The story, which is based upon a traditional central European novella, is an ironic look at the origins of aquacotta, a dish popular in central Italy.

Abstract:

On the slopes of mount Faudo, a few miles from the port of Imperia, the tiny village of Bellissimi rests between the hills bordered by olive trees. The people of Bellissimi, the few that remain, rarely see each other along the walled streets. However, at the end of the summer when the tourists begin to vacate the city, something magical seems to happen.
Renzo, the last remaining hot air balloon maker, comes up with a project for new balloons that will take flight during the festival of Misericordia, the first Sunday in September. The women begin preparing bread and cakes based on their childhood memories. The flight of the new hot-air balloons is the start of a tradition and Renzo, with his eyes towards the sky, is happy yet again because his balloons made it up into the air.
