Notes: The treatise, found in Rome in 1598 and edited by Niccolò Muzi, was translated entirely by G. Cometti in his “Annali di viticoltura ed enologia” [Annals of Viticulture and Enolgogy.] VII e VIII, 1875; IX, 1876. Later, it was reproduced in facsimile by Forni Publishers in Bologna, in 1980. A new edition, edited by the Order of the Cavalieri of the Truffles and Wine of Alba, translation and notes by Mariano Corino,  was published with the reproduction of the original facsimile in seven volumes in Alba between 1985 and 1992. Andrea Bacci, son of the architect Antonio, studied literature at Matelica and then medicine and philosophy. A doctor since 1551, he left the profession and moved to Rome. In 1567, he was given a teaching position in botany at the University of Rome, La Sapienza. He also published books on hydrology, pharmacology, mineralogy, zoology and history.
