Notes: Antiporta decorated with an allegorical drawing of the meeting of the Ambassador of England and the Pope, in the background there is an image of the Basilica of Saint Peter and in the sky there are putti, small male angles,that look like the king of England, Jack II. The book describes the banquet and there are drawings of the gala dinner on a number of tables within the book. The drawings and engravings were done by the following artists: Roman designer and painter Giovanni Battista Lenardi (1656-1704); Flemish engraver Arnold van Westerhout (1651-1725); Italian painter and sculptor Ciro Ferri (1634-1689); English engraver Philippus Michael Camers (XVII cent.); English engraver Andrea Cornely (active 1678-1687). There is a large, beautiful folded table that depicts the banquet table with all the food. The book, even if it was published in London, is considered an Italian gastronomic text because it described an elegant Italian banquet held in the 17th century. The first edition in Italian was published in Rome by Domenico Antonio Ercole, presumably in 1687 with the title Ragguaglio della solenne comparsa, fatta in Roma gli otto di gennaio 1687 dall'illustrissimo, ... conte di Castelmaine ambasciadore straordinario ... di Giacomo Secondo re d'Inghilterra ... alla Santa Sede apostolica, in andare pubblicamente all'udienza della santità di nostro signore Papa Innocenzo Undecimo. Dedicato all'altezza serenissima della duchessa di Modena da Giovanni Michele Wright ...
