Notes: Dedicated to cardinal Alessandro Farnese.  There is little information from the life of Cervio. He served as the Trinciante (or carver) for cardinal Farnese, where he probably worked as an assistant to Reale Fusoritto da Narni, at whose premature death this volume was rewritten. Il Trinciante by Cervio is without a doubt the most famous and complete work of its kind.
