Tozzetti (Hazelnut Biscuits)

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb all-purpose flour
  • 7 oz sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 3 oz extra virgin olive oil
  • 3 ½ oz almonds, sweet
  • 3 ½ oz mixed candied fruit
  • 2 half cups anise liqueur
  • 1 pinch baking soda

Preparation:

Beat the eggs with the sugar, then blend in the flour and the other ingredients. If necessary, to make the dough more solid, add some more flour. Form into a large stick, put onto a lightly greased sheet and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 15 minutes. Allow to cool and cut cross-wise to make the “tozzetti”.
